Using QSC K10 for short outdoor ceremony and cocktails - versatility of the K series Video

Using just a K10, one of my laptops and a wireless mic, I provided sound for the short outdoor wedding ceremony followed by cocktails under a tent. I hooked up my laptop directly to the K10 and a wireless mic system directly to the k10. The K series has two separate gains on the back so each can be controlled. Also the inputs are universal, so I used an XLR for the mic, but I used a mic jack to 1/4" for the laptop straight into the k10. Very versatile and easy to use!

You got the job done. Brides happy, guests are happy, catering hall is happy you didn't bring 10 speakers outside for a ceremony. Only one not happy is BobbysaggypantsBlendz! I use a powered speaker and a disc man for a 10 minute ceremony. SO WHAT????? Music sounds great, and everyone is happy. Cocktail hour, same set up.? Catering facilities love it because it's out of site and doesn't detract from their beautiful setup. Reception? Different ball game!

Its ok, I agree with you, and I'm always on at him to quit with his language he portrays in his posts. Anyway, back to this topic - I value your opinion, it just makes things very simple and easy using the K10 with an ipod. As long as? things run smooth, that's all that matters I think. :)

Bobby (if that's your name) once again what you're saying isn't making any sense! (to me anyway!) I am always in full control of the musis during the ceremony. Here in England the average ceremony is made up of approx 5 songs. 1 is for when the bridal party make their entrance, then 2 or 3 for the signing of the register, and then 1 more for the exit of the bride & groom. The songs? and voloume of the songs is controlled via the back of the K10, so I don't know what you are on about!

now maybe stef was still able to pull that off with this set-up, but just hooking up an ipod to a k10 and pressing play puts it on "auto-pilot" in my honest opinion, which means that you can't adjust on the fly, should anything unplanned comes up, like a bridesmaid breaks a heel, or the bride is late? getting out there, etc. other than that, i'd suggest going to the absoluteeventservice page and watching the post that chris did with jazzy jeff.

"what i'm saying" is this.... don't charge top-dollar for something that the bride and groom, or at the very least, the venue manager could have done themselves. part of spinning a ceremony is being in charge of when and how the music and flow of the event transpires. it has nothing to do with a huge set-up? that would be a "blemish" in the ceremony area, and everything to do with preserving what we do as professionals.

I don't quite understand what you are saying? Before I bought my K10, I was having to set up my Pioneer MEP 7000 with a PA system, which meant more cables, a table or stand to put it? on etc, which created a blemish in the ceremony area. Whereas now, I just need my K10, with which I just connect my iPod touch. The brides ceremony playlist has already been created and it makes life so much easier for me, and I can do it with the most minimal of equipment.

there's nothing wrong with it? as long as you are charging accordingly. don't charge for top dollar for a second setup, and only plug an ipod to a speaker and push play! how many times have i done a ceremony where you have to loop a song because the person was late getting down the isle? a few. and how do you handle the short pause before the bride comes out or the declaration of consent if all you are doing is pushing the PLAY? all i'm saying is be fair with what we provide.

There's nothing wrong with? how he's doing it in this video. I've just bought a pair of K10's for my weddings here in England, and I will use the K10 for ceremonies, like the Uptownexpress guy here! Minimal is BETTER! :O)

I only had one for this. But if you had? more, that would not have been a problem. The "out" xlr's would run from the jacks just beneath the inputs on the first k10, and on the 2nd you'd just go into the one input.

Hey BB! I hear ya. It was a very short ceremony. I hooked up my backup laptop (which had VDJ also) and the mic. For me it saves having to use my big rack console just for the ceremony, which is big and clunky. This way I had a small table outside, with my case for the laptop and the laptop? on top, it looked nice and clean.

it has a master line out. You can mix off of one k10 and? loop off of it.

hey man, if you can? get away with doing that then good for you. personally, i would not have the heart to do this if i was getting paid extra to provide music and sound for the ceremony package. i've seen guys plug an ipod on "A" and a lapel mic on "B" and charge $200 for it. would it work, yup. is that the image i want for my service. HELL TO THE NO!

how many speakers are you running at this venue and if you are using more? than 2 how do you get 2 cables into the speakers
